At 2 years old, Valeria came to our office with an uncertain birth history. Even with a seemingly smooth and uncomplicated pregnancy, she presented with struggles from the start. A colicky baby with troubles latching, struggling with constipation, she began developing infantile spasms which her doctors described as “seizure like activity”. After digging deeper into her birth it is possible that she experienced a hypoxia brain injury during birth. She was on a myriad of medications just to help her manage, she had a catheter and was fed with soft foods only. She was barely aware of her environment around her, could not hold her head up or sit upright, let alone crawl or walk.
After hearing her story we knew the best way to find out if we could help her was take detailed scans of her nervous system to identify if she is dealing with subluxation- or nervous system stress and dysregulation. After her history, scans and table side exam by Dr. Gage, we were able to identify major trauma and stress to her C1 and C2 vertebrae in her upper cervical spine. After her first few visits her sleep improved from 1-2 hours at a time to sleeping a full 9 hours through the night. She has not had another infantile/seizure since beginning care. Her pediatric OT is noticing huge improvements with her ability to sit up and look around to interact with her environment. She loves getting adjusted and giggles through her visit every time.
Testimonial: “I have noticed a huge improvement, it is helping her a lot. She has been sleeping through the night, her skin is clearing up, she looks more alert, and she is starting to hold her head up! I can tell she is much more calm and relaxed and happy."
